Built to belong

An addition should never look like one.

You can spot a bad addition from the street — the roofline that doesn’t quite agree, the windows from a different decade, the step down into a room that feels borrowed. We design from your home’s existing architecture outward, so the new space reads as original, inside and out.

  • Rooflines, siding, and windows matched to the home
  • Seamless floor and ceiling transitions inside
  • Feasibility, engineering, and permits built into the plan
  • A clear written scope before construction begins
  • One design-build team from concept to completion

Why add on

Stay on the street you love. Add the space you need.

When the house is right but the square footage isn’t, a well-designed addition is often the most thoughtful answer.

01

Space without moving

Keep the neighborhood, the light you love, the garden you’ve grown — and gain the room your family has outgrown the house waiting for.

02

Square footage with purpose

An addition is designed around a specific need — a primary suite, a family room, a real home office — so every new foot of space earns its place and adds long-term value to the property.

03

A plan before a permit

Setbacks, lot coverage, and zoning are mapped in the design phase, so the addition you fall in love with is one San Diego will actually approve.

What we build

Additions for every kind of growing.

Every addition is scoped individually — these are the additions San Diego homeowners plan most often.

01

Primary suite additions

A true retreat — bedroom, walk-in closet, and a spa-calm bath, set apart from the bustle of the house.

02

Family & great rooms

The gathering space the original floor plan never had, opened to the kitchen and the backyard beyond.

03

Sunrooms & garden rooms

Light-filled rooms that blur the line between indoors and out — built for the San Diego climate.

04

Home offices

A dedicated, quiet workspace with real walls and a real door — not a corner of the dining table.

05

Second-story additions

When the lot can’t grow outward, we grow up — doubling space while preserving the yard.

06

Kitchen & dining expansions

A bump-out or extension that gives the heart of the home the breathing room it deserves.

Two paths to more space

Addition or ADU? Let’s find the right answer.

An addition expands your home’s own living space and stays part of it. An ADU is a self-contained unit — its own kitchen, bath, and entrance — better suited to rental income or independent living for family. We design and build both, so our advice starts with your goals, not with what we’d rather sell you.

And if your addition includes a new bathroom or an expanded kitchen, the same team designs those spaces too — one vision, carried through.

Questions

Room additions, answered.

It depends on your lot — setbacks, lot coverage, and zoning rules all shape what’s possible. That’s exactly why our process starts with design and feasibility: we map what your property allows before anyone falls in love with a floor plan that can’t be approved.

That’s the goal from the very first sketch. We design the roofline, exterior materials, window proportions, and interior transitions so the new space reads as original to the home — not as a box attached to one side of it.

An addition expands your home’s own living space and stays connected to it. An ADU is a self-contained unit with its own kitchen and entrance — better suited to rental income or fully independent living for family. We design both — our ADU page covers the second path — and we’re happy to walk through which one actually fits your goals.

Design, engineering, and permitting usually take a few months, and construction typically runs several months depending on size and complexity. Because the scope is defined in writing before construction begins, you’ll have a realistic schedule before ground is broken.

Usually, yes. Most of the work happens outside your existing walls, and the new space is typically opened to the house late in the schedule. We plan the tie-in carefully and keep the jobsite contained so daily life can carry on.
